She has 99 names and a bitch ain’t one. I know your subconsciousness sneaked that into your brain complete with musical accompaniment and all. It’s alright, I might have had the same for a second. But the moment I entered the church that formed the location of the fashion show, those stupid lyrics melted as snowflakes in the sun. We were welcomed by a beautiful voice that enchanted us all, resulting in a fashion audience sitting there quietly as children who were waiting for the allowance of their parents to open their presents on christmas eve. Everybody knew something magical was about to happen, a kind of portal opened for us to step into the world of Karim himself, if only for a little while.
With the beautiful exotic vocals in the background, from which I could not say which specific origin they had, we were carried away until awoken by a more upbeat rythm, blasting like African drumbs to the soul. The models flaunted the runway, in beautiful pieces that screamed Karim Adduchi with a beautiful echo throughout the church. The first piece came in bright orange, in the most fragile looking fabric that seemed to simply melt together with the silhouette of the model. With an oriental touch in the neck and beautifully detailed back it resulted in an upbeat kind of sophistication. The collection represented femininity in every aspect. With beautiful organic sandstorm gowns, blisting around the body to embrase all womanhood. This one orange dress seemed to be shaped by two fans as if held from the neckline until the waist, like seen in historical movies with women peeking behind them, protecting their fragility but carefully freeing their curiosity. The moment the model turned to show us her back, we were surprised with a beautiful open back.
My favorite looks were: a two-pieced set that reminded me of Alexander McQueen’s SS18 RTW collection with beautiful embroideries stitched in sand colored silks. An ethnic long gown with rough fringes as traditionally applied in african tribes around the ankles or made into skirts, combined with sequins and beautiful colored patterns. And last but not least a colorful roughly woven dress with a strong tapestry feeling.
