Faux Furs & Tourist Shirts

#OOTD: Intergalactic Baroque.

Hi there!

I’ve been quiet busy lately! That’s why I haven’t been able to post too much… The coming weeks I have 1 fashion show and 4 shoots planned, which is super exciting! But it takes lots of preperation! But I will make sure to record everything for you guys!

Today I’m wearing a very victorian inspired outfit. I’ve been obsessed with this serie on Netflix about Mary Stuart, queen of Scots called Reign. The costumes are so magnificent and inspiring that I had to do something with it. Next to that I’m currently working on a shoot that has the same concept, based upon collections from Louis Vuitton, Balmain, Altuzarra, Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli and Chanel.

So how did I put this very historical look together, without making it dull or too old fashioned?

First of all I collect images from shows that I find inspiring, most of all I look at the silhouette, materials, styling, accessories etc. Louis Vuitton showed these beautiful white blouses that I immediately loved. At Dior and Alexander McQueen we’ve seen beautiful embroideries on sheer fabrics. And Gucci used oriental accessories. It’s really not that hard to find key pieces to make such outfits. Always go for the most luxurous appearing materials, I chose a beautiful dress with proper embroidery. There’s a big difference between cheap embroidery that you’ll find at h&m and proper embroidery. The difference is mostly in the thread. When it’s good, it will be nice and shiny because it will be embroidered with silk rather than cotton. This will give it a nice handmade touch.

When I fid my favorite pieces from the runway I check online what looks like it and then I kind of mix these items together. I always make sure to combine it with something fun, rebellious even and young. Such as the pink sheer socks in the Asian platforms and the paperboy cap with the inscription: Just for fun, why else? Adding items like these to a look as historically inspired as this, you make it cool and up to date again.

What do you think?

P.S. I will be live streaming the fashion show of one of my favorite Dutch designers Karim Adduchi this Thursday so stay tuned!
