#OOTD: Pretend Prada

Bonjour mes amours!

How are you beautiful people doing?

I’ve been quiet busy myself! I’m currently working on 4 shoots, 1 dress, 1 coat, planning a trip to Paris and to my boyfriend’s family. And all of this in between meetings, blogging and everything else that has been distracting me over the past days. Like my dogs. Since I’m basically not living anywhere at the moment, it feels as if I’m always on the run. At my parents’ house I have my atelier with my sewing- and embroidery machine, and most of my meetings and work are in Amsterdam. So in case you see a girl in the surroundings of Amsterdam packed in rainbow, leopard, patchwork clothes accompanied by the sound of bells from her hat – 99,9% chance it’s me.

A lot of people have been asking me how I find the time to dress up the way I do. And eventhough I understand the question, the answer is very simple. You see, to me making outfit posts is as easy as riding a bike. I think it’s hard to believe for people  that I actually have always been dressing myself the way I do today. I love to experiment with colors, materials and patterns and see how they work out together.

Today’s outfit is inspired by Prada! I love Prada and Miu Miu, they represent such a young, fun and quirky generation of female yuppies, that I recognize myself in. So how did I pick this look, without making it look like a clowns’ suit?

As I said, I felt very inspired by Prada for this look. I remember that I often got to request looks from Prada for shoots in New York, and when they’d arrive they were always my favorite. Whereas other brands would have simple, often ripped garment bags of trashy plastic – Prada and Miu Miu would always wrap their looks up in a transparent plastic  garment bag, that would eventually come in these super strong, soft, fabric, pink garment bags. Which was always so much easier to transport. Back then, we were still working with the SS17 RTW collection, with the funky retro prints and trimmed feathers. I fell in love with that collection immediately. So when I walked into H&M last week, I could not believe my eyes when I saw these leggings! When I then walked into the matching top AND 80’s vibe blouse I ran to the fitting room and died a little.

See the images below from Vogue Runway, and you’ll see what I mean. The retro print is super easy to recognize. So I decided to spice the look up even more, by combining it with my new hat of the week from Zara! This hat reminded me of Prada, Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs’ s FW RTW18 collections. And it strenghtens the humoristic, quirky retro vibe of the entire look.

What do you think about this look?

Would you dare to wear it?
