#OOTD: Trimmed Feathers & Winter Florals.

Another day, another storm – or at least so it seemed…
My tiny piece of hippy paradise has been blown away – like literally blown away.
The party tent has officially had its last party and collapsed into one big pile of sadness, covered in bird shit.
That’s why today’s post came a bit later! But, better late then never right!? Not sure this saying works in English – but it sure as hell does in Dutch, and for this occassion it would even make sense in Chinese I think.
So instead of taking time to write today – I asked a friend of mine to take some pictures in this fabulous fall outfit, with 29 degrees celsius outside.
And after that I enjoyed a day on the beach of Cala Nova, which truly is paradise. The turquoise water reminded me of a trip I took with friends to the island of Formentera, about 2 weeks ago. It’s in moments like these I realize how fucking lucky I am to be living on this magical island- before heading back to the cold Netherlands.

So since FFTS isn’t just gonna post #ootd pictures without any source or analysis here we go! So what am I wearing? I am wearing a look that’s basically consistend of 2 big  trends of this fall: Trimmed feathers and winter florals.

When I think about trimmed feathers, I think about Prada. Simple as that, even though there are many other designers that have shown they know how to add some wings to their looks – Prada gave them those wings to fly. Other great designers that have added trimmed feathers to their collection are for example: Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Sonia Rykiel, Elie Saab, Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Alberta Ferretti, Marchesa and Jeremy Scott. So naturally, with so many great houses to embrace this trend, you know you can’t miss it in your fall wardrobe. I took my inspiration from Prada and honestly nowadays I could probably make any look from the runway just by stopping by at Zara. Let me give you some proof through this look.

Second trend: Winter Florals. Gotta love the diversion in prints this season!! This trend is another veteran, and again a very respected one – because it makes us capable of re-using items, which is with our overconsuming behavior a good point + we can hang on to our favorite purchaces and combine them in a complete new way. For this winter we have seen florals hitting the runway – as girls will be ordering pupkin pie spiced latté’s at starbucks. So which shows are a good inspiration? Marni, Prada, Balenciaga, Valentino, Simone Rocha, Prabal Gurung, Erdem, Coach, Acne studios and of course, Gucci.

So now you know how I go shopping, I put my goggles on and look for these hidden gems in shops as Zara and Mango (that’s about all you’ll find on the island). I then combine it with some cool accessories like this vintage faux fur beret from my mum that I wore as a newspaper boy cap, but backwords – some retro cat eye glasses and these super dope socks to add some humor. To me that’s actually one of the most important thing in fashion and what I wear: it has to be fun, and make people smile.
